Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?
No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.
When should USCar Trader be contacted before purchase?
Whether a duty benefit may be available for the specific vehicle is assessed individually. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the case and provide non-binding support through the process.
Will US charging work in Germany?
The ID.4 uses CCS1/J1772 in the US, so you will need a connector solution for CCS2/Type 2 charging here. We address this as part of the import.
What's the biggest reliability concern?
Early software and infotainment glitches rather than hardware. Later cars with current updates are much improved.
How is import VAT treated when importing a Volkswagen ID.4?
Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.
Which battery size should I look for?
The long-range pack (around 77–82 kWh usable) gives the best range; confirm capacity and EPA range per car.
Will it pass TÜV?
Yes, after the charging-connector conversion and the usual lighting and speedometer changes, plus individual approval where required.
Is my payment protected?
Yes, we use escrow so funds release only against the correct documents.
