The Subaru Trailseeker is the brand's second dedicated battery-electric SUV and, in typical Subaru fashion, it leans harder into all-terrain capability than most rivals in the segment.
Model profile
The Trailseeker was revealed in 2025 as a 2026 model, built on the shared e-TNGA-derived electric platform Subaru developed with Toyota. It arrived as the larger, more rugged companion to the Solterra, using a longer wheelbase and a bigger footprint to free up second-row space and cargo volume.
Powertrain and equipment
Every Trailseeker uses a dual-motor layout — one electric motor on each axle — for permanent, symmetrical all-wheel drive that mirrors the mechanical AWD philosophy Subaru is known for.
The Trailseeker is offered exclusively as a five-door, five-seat electric SUV. US trims focus on progressively richer equipment rather than different powertrains, so the walk-up mostly adds features such as larger wheels, upgraded audio, ventilated seats, a panoramic roof and driver-assistance extras.

Because the Trailseeker launched recently, used availability is still limited but growing, and the examples that do surface tend to be low-mileage, well-optioned cars.

Pre-purchase review
As a new nameplate the Trailseeker has no long service history yet, so reliability judgements lean on the mature Subaru/Toyota electric platform it shares with the Solterra and bZ family. On those cars the drivetrain and battery have proven durable, while early software behaviour, infotainment responsiveness and charging-curve management were the usual talking points.
Germany and Europe
The most consequential difference is the charging port: US Trailseekers use NACS, so plan for CCS2 adaptation or an appropriate adapter for European public and home charging.
Typical work includes adding a rear fog lamp, adapting headlights to European aiming and markings, converting the instrument display, and documenting the odometer reading in kilometres for the registration file.
