Choose a specific vehicle. Where data is available, its detail page shows the import cost calculation. We assess any possible duty benefit with you before purchase.

Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 is the brand's electric SUV-coupe, best known for a design decision that still divides opinion: it has no rear window, replacing it with a roof-mounted camera feeding a digital rear-view mirror.

Model profile

Model history and generations

Model history and generations

Polestar revealed the 4 in 2023 and began customer deliveries through 2024 into 2025, positioning it between the smaller Polestar 2 fastback and the larger Polestar 3 SUV. It sits on parent group Geely's dedicated electric SEA platform. Production started in China, with additional assembly added in Busan, South Korea, for certain markets from 2025.

Powertrain and equipment

Engines, drivetrain and trims

Engines and drivetrain

The Polestar 4 is battery-electric, using a large battery pack of roughly 100 kWh (around 94 kWh usable) on a 400-volt architecture. Two configurations dominate.

Which trim makes sense

Body-wise the Polestar 4 is a five-seat electric SUV-coupe with that camera-based rear view and a panoramic glass roof.

Vehicle selection

North American market and suitability

Supply on the US market

Because the Polestar 4 only reached US customers recently, the used pool is small and skews to low-mileage, near-new cars — often lightly used or ex-demo vehicles in current-generation specification.

Who benefits from importing

The Polestar 4 suits a design-led EV buyer who wants strong range, serious performance in dual-motor form, and a minimalist Scandinavian cabin that stands apart from German rivals.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Known weak points and maintenance

As a very new EV, the Polestar 4 has no deep long-term record, so the honest guidance is to focus on the things that actually vary between early cars. The most talked-about item is software: over-the-air updates, occasional infotainment lag or resets, and the learning curve of the camera-based rear-view mirror, which some drivers take time to trust.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

US and EU spec compared

US cars use amber side markers, US headlight patterns, mph-first displays, and no factory rear fog lamp, plus North American charging port provisioning and connected-service configuration.

TUEV, modifications and registration

US-market headlights use the FMVSS/SAE beam pattern, which differs from the ECE pattern required in the EU, so they may need adjustment or replacement with ECE-compliant units for registration.

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

Does it really have no rear window?

Correct. A roof-mounted camera feeds a digital rear-view mirror instead of a glass rear window. Confirm it works perfectly before buying.

How is import VAT treated when importing a Polestar 4?

Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.

What range does it offer?

The Long Range Single Motor targets roughly 270–300 miles EPA, with the Dual Motor a little lower in exchange for AWD and much stronger performance.

How reliable is it?

It is too new for a long record. The EV hardware is shared Geely-group technology; the main early-life caveats are software maturity and the camera mirror.

How fast can it charge?

On its 400-volt architecture, DC fast charging peaks near 200 kW under suitable conditions.

How long does the import take?

Freight, clearance and TUEV approval usually take several weeks, depending on sailings and inspection slots.

How can a specific Polestar 4 be checked from Germany?

Available VIN, title and history information can be reviewed in the vehicle profile. USCar Trader can also arrange a separately booked on-site inspection within a scope agreed in advance.
