The Rogue is Nissan's compact crossover for the American market — closely related to the X-Trail sold in Europe, but with US-specific engineering, equipment and, from the current generation, a very different engine.
Model profile
Two generations are relevant to importers. The T32 (2014–2020) was a mainstream compact crossover with an available third row on some markets and a conventional naturally aspirated engine. The current T33 (2021 onward) is a clean-sheet redesign on the CMF-CD platform, with sharper styling, a much-improved interior, and — from the 2022 model year in the US — a distinctive engine (below).
Powertrain and equipment
The T32 Rogue used the 2.5-litre QR25DE four-cylinder (~170 hp) paired with Nissan's Xtronic CVT. The current T33 introduced the 1.5-litre KR15DDT VC-Turbo three-cylinder with variable compression (~201 hp), an unusual and technically interesting engine that varies its compression ratio for efficiency, again through a CVT.
US Rogue trims run S, SV, SL and Platinum, the last with quilted leather, a head-up display and a 12.3-inch screen on the current car. The body is a five-door, five-seat compact crossover.
Vehicle selection
Rogue supply in the US is deep across all trims and both generations, from fleet and rental S/SV cars with higher mileage to well-kept private SL and Platinum examples. As with any import, sourcing from dry southern and western states reduces corrosion risk and eases the later TÜV inspection.

US and European versions diverged, so the Rogue is not identical to the X-Trail: equipment, engine options and calibration differ.
Typical adaptations are fitting a rear fog lamp, adjusting headlights and side markers, and documenting the odometer reading.
