CarHub · Mazda
The Mazda CX-5 is the car that made Mazda's 'driver's SUV' reputation stick. Across two generations it has combined genuinely engaging handling, a cabin that punches above its price bracket and clean SkyActiv styling, all in a practical compact-SUV package.

Model profile
The first generation (chassis KE, 2013–2016) launched the CX-5 and Mazda's full SkyActiv approach — lightweight engineering, efficient naturally aspirated engines and sharp dynamics.
Powertrain and equipment
US CX-5s centre on the SkyActiv-G four-cylinder petrol engines. The 2.5-litre naturally aspirated unit produces around 187 hp and is the volume engine; earlier and base cars used a 2.0-litre.
The CX-5 is a five-door compact SUV only. US trims typically run Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and the range-topping Signature, with Carbon Edition appearing later. The turbo engine is tied to the upper trims.
Vehicle selection
CX-5 supply is plentiful, particularly KF cars from 2017 to 2023, many of them former lease vehicles with full histories and mileages typically between roughly 25,000 and 90,000 miles.
An imported CX-5 suits the buyer who wants a compact SUV that is genuinely enjoyable to drive without paying premium-badge money, ideally in the turbocharged, fully loaded specification that Europe offered only sparingly.

Pre-purchase review
The CX-5 is one of the more dependable compact SUVs, but it is not flawless. The 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G engines can be sensitive to carbon buildup and, on some units, elevated oil consumption, so an oil-use history and clean service record are worth confirming. Water-pump wear on higher-mileage cars is a known item, and some owners report brake wear that is quicker than expected.
Germany and Europe
US-market headlights use the FMVSS/SAE beam pattern, which differs from the ECE pattern required in the EU, so they may need adjustment or replacement with ECE-compliant units for registration.
USCar Trader services
As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.
Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.
Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.
Import process
Begin by selecting the exact car — engine (turbo or naturally aspirated), trim, and AWD status.
