Model profile

Model history and generations

Generations at a glance

The first-generation NX (chassis code AZ10) arrived for the 2015 model year and ran through 2021. The hybrid version wore the NX 300h badge and paired a 2.5-litre 2AR-FXE four-cylinder running on the Atkinson cycle with front and rear electric motors, giving all-wheel drive through the E-Four system without a physical driveshaft to the rear axle.

Powertrain lineup

The NX 300h produces a combined 194 hp and is geared for efficiency rather than pace, with a power-split e-CVT that keeps the engine calm in traffic.

Trims in the US market

The NX is offered only as a five-door SUV. First-generation US hybrids came in base, Luxury and F Sport flavours, the latter adding sportier seats, unique grille mesh and adaptive dampers on some cars.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Inspection plan for this model

For the Lexus NX Hybrid, the agreed inspection plan focuses in particular on battery condition, charging interface, warning messages, software status and accessible high-voltage and cooling-system components. USCar Trader can document these points through a separately commissioned on-site inspection; inaccessible areas or unauthorised road tests are explicitly recorded as unchecked.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

What US models do differently

US-market NX Hybrids run miles-per-hour instruments, US daytime running light and headlight aim settings, and often amber or combined rear lamp clusters without a dedicated rear fog light, which German registration requires.

German TÜV and registration

Typical changes for approval include fitting a rear fog lamp, adjusting or replacing headlights to European aim, and confirming the odometer reads correctly.

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

Is the Lexus NX Hybrid a reliable used import?

Yes. The drivetrain is closely related to Toyota's high-volume hybrids and is among the most dependable in its class, provided recalls are done and servicing is documented.

How long does the hybrid battery last?

The high-voltage battery usually outlasts the rest of the car, commonly well beyond 250,000 km, and failures typically give warning before leaving you stranded.

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

How is import VAT treated when importing a Lexus NX Hybrid?

Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.

What needs changing for TÜV?

Usually a rear fog lamp and European headlight settings, plus verification of the instruments and safety systems during individual approval.

Which generation should I import?

The 2022-onward NX 350h has more power and a far better infotainment system; earlier 300h cars are cheaper to buy and equally durable.

Is servicing a problem in Germany?

No. The NX was sold new here, so parts and Lexus dealer support are readily available.

How can a specific Lexus NX Hybrid be checked from Germany?

Available VIN, title and history information can be reviewed in the vehicle profile. USCar Trader can also arrange a separately booked on-site inspection within a scope agreed in advance.
