Which Wrangler Unlimited engine should I import?
For most buyers the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 (2012 and later) is the sweet spot — stronger and smoother than the old 3.8, with good parts availability in Europe.
Is the death wobble a deal-breaker?
No. It is a suspension symptom, not an engine fault, and is usually cured by replacing worn steering and track-bar components. Just make sure you inspect for it before buying.
Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?
No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.
JK or JL — which is the better import?
The JL drives noticeably better and has newer safety and electronics; the JK is more affordable and mechanically simpler. Both are strong choices depending on budget.
Can I register a lifted US Wrangler in Germany?
Often yes, but every modification must be assessed and entered for TÜV. A near-stock car is quicker and cheaper to approve.
How long does the whole import take?
Typically a few weeks from purchase to arrival, plus the time for customs, TÜV and registration once it lands.
Do US Wranglers rust badly?
The frame and suspension can, which is exactly why dry-climate Southwest cars are prized. Always inspect the underbody.
Is the roof legal to remove in Germany?
Yes, the Wrangler is type-designed for open driving; the doors and roof can be removed within the vehicle's approval.
