Model profile
The original Bronco ran through five generations from 1966 to 1996 before Ford retired the name. The modern sixth-generation Bronco launched for 2021 on a dedicated body-on-frame platform shared with the Ranger, and it is this truck that dominates the import market. It is offered as a two-door and a four-door, both with removable roof panels and doors, echoing the Wrangler formula.
Powertrain and equipment
Two turbocharged EcoBoost engines cover most Broncos: a 2.3-litre four-cylinder with around 275-300 hp and a 2.7-litre V6 with roughly 315-330 hp.
US trims span Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades, Heritage and the range-topping Raptor. Badlands and Wildtrak are the enthusiast-favourite off-road grades, while Outer Banks leans more toward on-road comfort.

Pre-purchase review
As a newer platform, the Bronco has had some launch-era issues worth knowing. The most publicised was a batch of 2.7 V6 engines with valve-train hardware that could fail; Ford extended coverage and revised parts, so confirm the engine build and any completed work. Early hardtops had fit-and-finish and delamination problems that led to replacements; inspect the roof carefully.
Germany and Europe
US Broncos generally lack a rear fog lamp and use US-aimed lighting, both addressed for German registration. Instruments read in miles and SYNC 4 carries US maps.
Typical work includes adding or activating a rear fog lamp, correcting headlight aim, confirming the odometer, and documenting any Sasquatch tyres and suspension.
