Model history and generations
Two recent generations are most relevant. The eleventh generation (2015–2020) rode on GM's K2XX platform with a proven solid rear axle, the 5.3-litre V8 and a comfortable, upscale cabin in Premier trim.

Choose a specific vehicle. Where data is available, its detail page shows the import cost calculation. We assess any possible duty benefit with you before purchase.
Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact us before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support through the process. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.
CarHub · Chevrolet
The Chevrolet Suburban is the longest continuously used nameplate in the American car industry, and it remains the definitive full-size, three-row family hauler.

Model profile
Two recent generations are most relevant. The eleventh generation (2015–2020) rode on GM's K2XX platform with a proven solid rear axle, the 5.3-litre V8 and a comfortable, upscale cabin in Premier trim.
Powertrain and equipment
The workhorse engine is the 5.3-litre EcoTec3 V8 (~355 hp), offered across most trims. Stepping up, the 6.2-litre V8 (~420 hp) powers High Country and other upper models and adds effortless towing and passing power.
There is one body: a long-wheelbase, full-size SUV seating up to nine with the front bench. Trims run LS, LT, the sporty RST, the off-road Z71, the luxurious Premier and the range-topping High Country.
Vehicle selection
Suburbans are everywhere in the US, popular with families, hotels, security firms and government fleets.
The Suburban suits a buyer who genuinely needs the space — seven to nine seats plus real cargo — and who can accommodate a vehicle more than 5.7 metres long.

Pre-purchase review
Chevrolet Suburban reliability rests on well-understood GM mechanicals, but the small-block V8s have a signature issue: the Active Fuel Management / Dynamic Fuel Management cylinder-deactivation system is associated with lifter failures on 5.3 and 6.2 engines, sometimes causing a misfire or ticking. Ask whether the AFM/DFM lifters have been serviced or the system disabled, and check for a clean idle.
Germany and Europe
US-market headlights use the FMVSS/SAE beam pattern, which differs from the ECE pattern required in the EU, so they may need adjustment or replacement with ECE-compliant units for registration.
Expect European lighting compliance (rear fog lamp, headlight aim, side markers), an odometer conversion or documentation, and emissions verification, particularly on the diesel.
USCar Trader services
As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.
Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.
Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.
Import process
The assessment depends on the specific vehicle and the circumstances of the transaction. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review any possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are considered separately.
Questions and answers
No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. The 5.3 V8 is the volume choice; the 6.2 V8 adds power and the 3.0 Duramax diesel offers strong torque and economy.
Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.
The cylinder-deactivation system can cause lifter failures on GM V8s; check service history and idle quality before buying.
Yes, with front and second-row bench seats it seats up to nine; captain's chairs reduce that to seven or eight.
Yes, after lighting adjustments and an individual approval; its size may add measurement checks but is not a barrier.
