Choose a specific vehicle. Where data is available, its detail page shows the import cost calculation. We assess any possible duty benefit with you before purchase.

Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact us before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support through the process. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

Model profile

Model history and generations

Model history and generations

For import today the relevant generations run from the C5 onward. The C5 (1997–2004) introduced the rear-mounted transaxle and the aluminium LS-series V8, transforming the car's balance. The C6 (2005–2013) sharpened styling and power, culminating in the track-focused Z06 and the supercharged ZR1. The C7 Stingray (2014–2019) modernised the interior and added the brilliant LT1 6.2-litre engine, with the supercharged Z06 above it.

Powertrain and equipment

Engines, drivetrain and trims

Engines and drivetrain

The Corvette is defined by its pushrod V8s (the C8 Z06 excepted). C5 cars use the 5.7-litre LS1 and, in the Z06, the LS6. C6 spans the 6.0-litre LS2, the 6.2-litre LS3, the 7.0-litre LS7 in the Z06 and the supercharged 6.2-litre LS9 in the ZR1.

Which trim makes sense

Corvettes come as a fixed-roof coupe (usually with a removable roof panel) and a convertible. Trim structure moved to numbered levels (1LT, 2LT, 3LT and Z06 equivalents) from the C7 on.

Vehicle selection

North American market and suitability

Supply on the US market

The US is by far the largest Corvette market, so supply is excellent across every generation.

Who benefits from importing

A Corvette suits the driver who wants genuine supercar performance and V8 character for far less complexity than European exotics, plus the choice a US import brings.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Known weak points and maintenance

Corvettes are mechanically tough for a sports car, but each generation has known items. C5s can suffer from column-lock failures, leaking targa roofs and worn steering columns. C6 Z06 and LS7 cars are known for valve-guide wear that can lead to dropped valves, so a compression and leak-down check on those engines is essential.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

US and EU spec compared

US Corvettes have mph speedometers, US-market lighting and, on some years, side markers that need attention for European approval. Emissions and OBD data are US-specification.

TÜV, modifications and registration

Typical approval work covers lighting conversion to ECE standards, fitting a rear fog lamp, verifying the speedometer and confirming brake and emissions data.

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

Can I import a used Corvette to Germany?

Yes. Any of the C5–C8 generations can be imported from the US and registered after individual approval.

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

How is import VAT treated when importing a Chevrolet Corvette?

Import VAT and other taxes or costs are assessed separately under the applicable rules and the circumstances of the individual case. A blanket answer for every vehicle would not be reliable.

Which generation is easiest to import and run?

The C6 and C7 balance modern usability, parts support and value; the C8 is the most exotic but newest.

Is the Corvette reliable?

For a sports car, yes — provided the specific engine checks (notably C6 Z06 valve guides) are clean.

How is a Corvette shipped?

Usually by container ocean freight to protect the low bodywork, to Bremerhaven or Rotterdam.

What changes are needed for TUV?

Lighting, a rear fog lamp, speedometer verification and documentation of any aftermarket parts.

Is USCar Trader a dealer?

No. USCar Trader is an independent broker and intermediary, not a franchised dealer.
