The Cadillac CT5 is the kind of car the American market does well and Europe rarely offers: a rear-drive luxury sedan with genuine V-Series performance credentials, built in Michigan and sold almost entirely at home.
Model profile
The CT5 launched for the 2020 model year, replacing the CTS and slotting above the smaller CT4 in Cadillac's rationalised sedan line-up. It rides on GM's Alpha platform, the same rear-drive architecture praised for its handling under the ATS and CTS. A mid-cycle refresh arrived for 2025 with a larger 33-inch curved display, revised styling and interior updates.
Powertrain and equipment
The base CT5 uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four producing around 237 hp. Step up and you get the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 (the LGY unit), rated at roughly 335 hp in the mainstream cars and about 360 hp in the CT5-V.
The CT5 is a four-door sedan only — no coupe, wagon or long-wheelbase version. Trims run from Luxury and Premium Luxury through the Sport, then the performance CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing.
